Maybe you don’t even exist in the future you’re worrying about.
Think about it the version of “you” in that imagined scenario might never even come to life.
So no matter how much stress you take about it, it’s not going to change the outcome.
Mind my words the more effort you put into actual work, the more fruitful the results will be. Effort in action pays off. But the more effort you put into thinking about achieving something, obsessing over “what if I fail?”, replaying disasters in your head again and again the more you destroy the thought of being successful before you’ve even begun.
There’s a clear, almost cruel, law for this Murphy’s Law: The more you fear something happening, the more likely you are to make it happen.
And it makes sense, doesn’t it?
If you keep telling yourself, “This won’t work” or “I’m not doing enough”, you might still be working toward it on the outside, but your mind isn’t in the game. Your energy is split between doing and doubting.
Let’s take a simple example.
When we were in school, we often feared the class topper. We convinced ourselves they would always take our thunder, that we could never win as long as they existed. But instead of working to become the person who could win, we wasted energy fearing their win.
Or think about competitive exams. The fear of losing often feels heavier than the joy of achieving. The fear of rejection screams louder than the quiet hope of being selected. And when fear takes over, it doesn’t make you better prepared it just steals your focus.
So let me ask you something: has anything ever improved because you feared it every single second? Did the results change in your favor, or did the constant fear only push you closer to failure?
The truth is you can’t plan every single moment in life from the start. And that’s not just okay, it’s actually a blessing. Some of the best things that happen to us are unplanned. When you stop obsessing over controlling every detail, you leave space for opportunities, for surprises, for growth you couldn’t have predicted.
If you put your whole energy into what matters now, you’ll win. Maybe not always in the way you imagined but in a way that’s worth it.
Stop trying to plan every single step. You can’t always take the perfect decision but you can take a decision and make it perfect.
Live fully. Live truly.
And remember sometimes, the unplanned is the best plan you’ll ever have.
